Contrary to the name, Offset Festival isn't a climate change conference...

Offset Festival is one of the hottest boutique festivals around, about to embark on its third outing in Hainault Forest on September 4th and 5th to help us see in the autumn with masses of style. Formed in 2008 as a reaction to overpriced festivals with boring line-ups, the festival's a wallet-friendly alternative to some of the more mainstream festivals, and boasts a strong line-up – Offset’s mission statement is to join the dots between cutting edge artists and their influences, so expect a mixture of the established and the brand new.

As this is Britain in autumn we’re talking about, it’ll probably be raining all weekend and we’ll be huddling together for warmth in our anoraks, but when Mystery Jets and Atari Teenage Riot are headlining, who cares what the weather’s like? The line-up's full of cool up and coming bands such as Flats and Factory Floor, playing alongside more influential artists. Acts playing in previous years include Bombay Bicycle Club, Biffy Clyro and The XX, so it’s safe to say that this year’s unknowns could go on to do great things in the near future. Notable acts for 2010 include Bo Ningen, Good Shoes and Ghost of a Thousand (who must love Offset because they’ve played it every year so far!).

We all know that a festival is about more than just the music, and Offset have done everything they can to create a fantastic atmosphere. This year, festival-goers will be treated to delights such as a vintage clothing market, complete with barber and '50s style beauty counter, as well as a Victorian funfair and craft workshops to name just a few. The festival prides itself on loads of organic food stalls – a smart move, since getting food poisoning from a dodgy burger is something most of us are probably looking to avoid on our festival weekend.

Tickets for Offset Festival are available now at £65 for the weekend (£55 for early-bird tickets) or £29 for a day. You can find out more about the festival here.
