by: Lowri

Every Monday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Lowri Clarke selects her top bank holiday club nights.

Saturday 27th August
Chew The Fat Bank Holiday Special
Chew The Fat! return to Cable bank holiday style, with French label of the moment Youngunz. Main room sounds from Zinc accross the spectrum of his versatility: drum and bass, crack house, breaks. The silky, sultry sounds of MJ Cole lend an understated majesty to proceedings. Resident Foamo is joined by Bullet train head honcho Marco del Horno and deranged garage bass heads Hot City.

Saturday 27th August
Urban Nerds Carnival Special
Urban Nerds return for the 5th year running, throwing down a hot and heavy carnival warm-up this time at XOYO. Synonymous with rinsing line ups, the Urban Nerds this time bring Schlachthofbronx (Mad Decent). The tropical breaks duo are flying in from Munich especially. Recent history includes playing with Major Lazer and Buraka Som Sistema, plus supprting M.I.A on her European tour. They dropped their debut album 'Nasty Bass' on Diplo's Mad Decent earlier this year - proving themselves to be enormously worthy bass merchants for this years' carnival warm up. Expect an array of underground carnival sounds: dancehall, soca, baile funk, reggae, garage, bassline and more.

Sunday 28th August

Bookstock Street Party

A great idea from the Book Club - they threw a Royal Wedding Street Party, which, by all accounts was smashing - with 5000 people having a royal knees up! They return today with tunes, dancing, dressing up, games, food and booze. Brassroots are east London's biggest, brashest, bounciest eight piece band, The Disco Shed are totally renowned for their pummelling party system on the festival circuit (shedonism guaranteed), Pure Evil Gallery are bringing music, art and 'POP', and the Griffin are working on a very special line-up too. Sunshine fun.

Sunday 28th August

Earnest Endeavours X Dante Fried Chicken

Earnest Endeavours once again combine some of the best things in life: food and tunes. Dante Fried Chicken are back! They launched their award-winning Ride or Fry food truck in LA, and over the years the Earnest Endeavours crew have cooked up and partied down with DFC across London, Europe and the states. They have pulled in a secret special guest - knowing and deeply trusting EE it can only be someone truly exciting. Joining the mystery guest is Eglo boss and all round legend of Rinse Alex Nut - plus LuckyMe founders The Blessings. This has 'good times' written all over it.

Sunday 28th August
Eastern Electrics
Mulletover, Made To Play and Reprise team up to bang some beats in your face this August Bank Holiday. Taking over for just three annual parties, the Eastern Electrics brigade bring some interesting party-starters to beat up the arches. Tonight they have the incredible Maya Jane Coles, Richy Ahmed, Simon Baker and Robert Dietz in the mulletover room. Riva Starr, label boss Jesse Rose and Renaissance Man bring the house vibes to the Made To Play room and Reprise present drum and bass connoisseur Icicle, Dark Sky and Monki. Underground house, bass and techno in three big arches. A delight.

Sunday 28th August
Ketoloco Summer Closing Party
Leeds exports and after-party-starters Ketoloco return to The Light Bar for their final day of sunny resplendence on the terrace. The concept was infamously formed after a long Ibizan day on the nosebag and hooves. The Ketoloco crew painted their Leeds basement a DC10 red and opened it to the raving public. Their parties these days are in actual clubs mostly, and their terrace editions are incredible - and this is the last one of the summer.  Today they've got one half of esteemed outfit Wighnonmy Bros - Robag Whrume dishing his take on house and techno.

Sunday 28th August
Colony and Scand Bank Holiday Special
Back at the Rhythm for another two-room massacre, Colony are armed to the teeth with DJs and live acts from across the country. Strictly house and techno in room one, with Scand representing the purist electro in room two. Topping the bill is Toby Leeming - aka The Third Man - and Miles Whitaker - aka MLZ. He's one half of Pendle Coven, integral member of the Modern love collective and out and out 1210 badbwoy. It's free. You've got precisely no reason for missing out on this Monday-off madness.

Monday 29th August
Red Bull Music Academy Party
Red Bull Music Academy Carnival Party returns with Major Lazer Soundsystem for another Notting Hill throwdown. The likes of MIA, Santogold and Lee Scratch Perry have all made surprise appearances over the last few years, there's guaranteed fun times to be had here.
