New Year's Eve Clubbing

July 21, 2008

Ah, New Years Eve - the night traditionally shrouded in that nebulous cloud of expectation, extreme inebriation, overspending, sexual tension and, occasionally, disappointment. It’s the hedonistic 24 hour period book-ended by our lengthy, heavy slabs of responsibility known as 'life'. This window of opportunity is a rare beast. So then! It is absolutely imperative that you find yourself at the very best party in town.

If you like breaks, then it has to be Platform 12 at The Key, with breakspoll winner The Rogue Element, the mighty Hybrid boys and Alex Metric laying down the tear-out filth. The Drop-Off at Cable Street Studios, with Atomic Hooligan and Soul of Man is another breakstravaganza and the 8-Bit Squiffy afterparty courtesy of Adam Slackshot is sure to be absolutely rude.

For in-yer-face electro-clash mash ups then you really cannot beat Together at Turnmills. 2ManyDJs, Streetlife DJs and Simian Mobile Disco all under one roof. Mouth watering.

Festival funsters and free party connoisseurs should check out the Rumbleteaser – a magical indoor festy-collaboration by Small World and the flamboyant Fish Seeks Bicycle; featuring everything from Balkan gypsy punk to dubstep via techno.

For out-and-out beat-muscle the winner has to be the Final Countdown at Canvas. Tensions will be running high as the ominous shadow of the wreckers ball descends ever further, but who gives a fuck when you've got Jo Jo de Freq, Hannah Holland, Carl Craig, Andrew Weatherall, James Priestly and many more to serenade you through the early hours?

New Year's Eve at The End boasts a huge line up including stalwarts Sancho Panza, Layo and Bushwacka and Will Saul. That is a serious cracker.

Breakin Science at The Fridge has the phattest drum 'n bass line up, probably in the world, and if it's techno you're after then We Are Lost Souls at Public Life is where you should be to get deep inside the minimalism.

No matter what you do, we should all meet up back at the Key at 6am to get Veryveryverywrongindeed all day long with the Chief Ambassador of Wrongness Tim Sheridan and techno-hungry Zombie Shane Watcha, along with every other DJ to have graced the decks of Verywrong and Zombies over the years. Deep, dark, delicious, and completely and utterly filthy. See you at the front.
