Soundcrash Present The Glitch Mob: Preview

Let’s Get It Poppin’ Like It’s New Year’s Eve…

Glitch hop. Future bass. Crunk. West Coast shit. Chances are you’ve heard the searing, low slung, laser bass sounds that have been growling out of West Coast America. Have you? Well, the heavy as hell glitch hop dealt by the multifarious heroes of LA’s bass music movement has come to London. And, if you haven’t yet been initiated then it’s definitely time to step into the arena.

Soundcrash – as usual – are ahead of the curve with their attention to freshness. They are the guys who keep the off-centre greats coming thick and fast with their innovative line-ups. They throw what are hands down some of the best parties in London (and Croatia – their Soundwave festival is excellent). Specialists in hip hop, electronic, leftfield shiznizz and IDM, it was only a matter of time before they grabbed the West Coast movement with both hands.

The Glitch Mob are eDIT, Ooah and Boreta. Triple trouble on laptops with extra speakers and heavy overtures of rudeness. DJs and producers all, they have shored their bass music mothership on UK soil to tour their debut album ‘Drink The Sea’. The Glitch Mob reared their big ugly sounds into notoriety with their supreme tag-team deck skills and a series of remixes dirtier than your browsing history. The flagship ‘West Coast Rocks’ – a remix of dubstep producer Matty G’s anthem – is a glitch hop powerhouse. It’s a good place to start if you’re new to the sound. From there, cast your ears over their Lil Wayne ‘Lollipop’ remix and then, reeling and hungry, drop their simply enormous remix of Evil Nine’s ‘All The Cash’ into your life. Rearrange your face so it says ‘bass’. Now you’re ready.

I simply cannot wait to see what these guys do to Koko this July. Crunky as you like with a sound so big you could smash your fist into it, they will make fools of you all if you don’t at least have a bite of what they're offering.

Saturday’s Soundcrash is actually an amalgamation of two events: the first part of the night will see The Mad Professor taking you on a journey from dub to dubstep. After that, it’s straight to the bass. Support acts of note tonight include the crunkest mofo this side of next week: Your Niece. He’s one of the few DJs who’s been bringing the glitch to the UK in epic proportions. The Z-Shed resident and all round badman is a force behind the decks who really will make you break your neck. He’s joined by the irrepressible DJ Vadim, the Vagabondz DJs plus Soundcrash regulars Subsource and Kidkanevil.

This may sell out. So book now or arrive early – the Mad Professor show begins at 10pm.
