TNGHT, Audio Doughnuts and Machinedrum: Editor's Choice - Clubbing

by: Lowri

Every Friday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Lowri Clarke brings you her top three club nights.

Thursday 21st June
TNGHT
Lunice and Hudson Mohawke have collaborated you say?

Yep that's right. Fusing rap, RnB and electronica into a seamlessly airtight package is what they do. Eat Your Own Ears have got them in to showcase the new sound which some people are calling 'trap'. It will be a mind-blowingly futiristic, ghetto set I imagine: slickly produced and shiny as an RnB tableau, but with a bit of an off-centre, crunky approach. The work of these two super-producers is never predictable, but always on the money. This is definitely worth checking out.

You can listen to the first leaked single 'Bugg'n' here.

Friday 22nd June

Found: Audio Doughnuts
What. A. Line-up. It ticks so many boxes - you've got Jehst the dope MC, Starkey the bass-crunch Philly badman, Eliphino the producer with the most excellent touch, Drums of Death - masked drum machine mentalism, Om Unit, Micachu, FunkyStepz... This will be off every hook there is.

Friday 22nd June
Machinedrum, Throwing Snow, Patchwork Pirates
You can definitely rely on The Nest to bring you Friday freshness - and this is yet another feather in the cap for the Dalston basement.

Tonight they bring Brooklyn beat merchant Machinedrum (Planet Mu) to splatter his genre-splicing darkness. He's joined by the bassbin loving Throwing Snow and Earnest Endeavours hip hoppers the Patchwork Pirates.
