I really don't think these paintings are as bad as some of the press are making out. Yes, they seem geared towards people with more cash than sense and contain yet more dead shark imagery, but there's a definite warmth and something almost comforting in these paintings that's been missing from his installations. Nobody can make death look cosy but I think Damien Hirst gives it a good try.

This looks like it's going to be loads of fun!
