Dancefloor Bombs

Dancefloor Bombs

The DJ desk once again furnishes you with our pick of the tunes that are likely to be tearing up dancefloors around the capital this weekend.

Tom picks: Breeze Blow - Wheeler - Breeze Blow / Maffi - Turtle Riddim

The Maffi Riddim known as Turtle has been floating about for a while now, most notably ridden by Mikey Murka for Downpressor Man. It's been updated here by Wheeler (owner of a small shop for beer, juice, ice and cigarettes near the entrance of the Swallofield ghetto in Kingston) who adds a raw lo-fi vocal.

Chloe picks: Method Head - Sasha Carassi (Respekt Recordings 2010)

I figured with the weather turning so nasty and cold on us, I'd delve a little into the darker realms of underground techno. Method head is a production from Sasha Carassi, a newby to underground label Respekt. The track has an urgent and rather sinister twist to it, one of those you'll most likely hear under a rail tunnel somewhere, with a can of cheap beer in your hand and no idea what time or even what day it is. Let the winter rave season commence.

Lachie picks: Unquote + Molecular Structures - Lubov Moya (Med School Music)

On the B side of the stunning 'Hide Your Tears Because We Are In Heaven', this has that little bit more grunt than it's sister in wax. The A side is a beautiful, almost beat-less piece which despite this lack still manages to generate a bucket load of energy. If this leaves you slightly frustrated and you need a solid broken beat then flip it over and let the emotion filled, bone shaking bass course through your limbs.
