This weeks dancefloor destroyers as picked by the DJ desk.
Tom picks: Girl Unit - Wut (Night Slugs 2010)
Night Slugs are hot property at the moment and this wicked bit of future funk/crunk/call it what you want that has been doing the rounds for a bit finally gets released. Not much needs to be said about it, just play it on loop, Night Slugs are the future of UK EDM.
Chloe picks: Steve Lawler - Gimme Some More (Viva 2010)
Here he is, its Big steve with "Gimme Some More" which as the name suggests is a rather raunchy, evocative track with go getting beats and raunchy undertones, with some deep provoking commentary courtesy of Roland Clark. Big room/ small room, this track will have a noticeable presence and carries along rather nicely, if you know what I mean. Do you? You will.
Lachie picks: 501 - Short Circuit (Special Branch 2010)
501’s tunes have always been pure filth - when I heard ‘Mind Control’, his first full release, it was the first time that I fully grasped the depths of grimyness that dubstep could go to. I virtually sprinted to the nearest record store to go and buy up anything and every thing that vaguely had a similar speaker destroying bassline - the result: I have lots of very loud and not particularly memorable dubstep in my crate.
501, however, has endured - and here he takes a more ‘intelligent’ but no less effective route, forsaking stomach churning bass for a more palatable groove.
