Dancefloor Bombs

Once again the clubbing team are here to provide some dancefloor ammo for the weekend ahead.

Lowri picks - Kanji Kinetic - Zombiezz  Kanji Kinetic - Zombies by kanji

This week's bomb from me is in honour of Kanji Kinetc, Rrritalin, The Z-Shed Crew and Senseless Records. At Glade those guys back to back were one of the absolute highlights. This tune did what it always does and pulverized the Overkill tent. No, it ain't a new track, but kill you it most certainly will. Cop a load of this absolute drilling beat and imagine, if you will, an angry dancefloor batting zombies left, right and centre to the huge sub frequency work out. This is basically a Z-Shed anthem and I will never tire of it what a dancefloor assault it is.

Alex picks - Locussolus - Gunship Locussolus - Gunship by International Feel

Gunship is the vanguard of the Locussolus naval artillery fleet, heading up his self-titled debut L.P on International Feel with all the buoyancy and firepower that was expected of the imperious vessel, Nelson-like in its maritime preeminence.

It is a fast-paced, driving, crisply momentous house number of substantial depth, which combines an insistent, posturing bass line that makes you wanna slip on a pair of white gloves and sign-linguise dynamic box-shaped hand signals with periodic psych/alt. rock effleurages reminiscent of the Edgar Winter Group scoring full marks on the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1973. It is punctuated throughout by echo-line, reverberative soundwave ricochets that pristinely encapsulate the sensation of presence within a cavernous warehouse space. In his Locussolus guise, you will struggle to find DJ Harvey, the Waluigi of disco, in more dancefloor-oriented form. Savour it compadres, and boogie down.

Joj picks - Andi Müller  -  Comedown Andi Müller - Comedown by andimuller

All fuse and no bang? Perhaps. Too bad. This is what I'm feeling and it's at least going off for me. For what is technically a techno tune, Andi Muller's 'Comedown' is unusually melancholic and boldly restrained. For a debut release, the production is seriously mature and accomplished. However, if you already knew the name, then maybe none of this has come as a great surprise. Probably his most celebrated submission to date has been his incredible ambient remix of Radiohead's 'Everything in it's Right Place', which rocked the boat back in 2008.

In 'Comedown', time and groove are delicately pinioned between the hush of it's hi-hats and the slow pulse of a throbbing bass line. As bleak string chords hum across the beat, a myriad of synth layers bounce and play off of each other amalgamating in a rushing, climactic din, only to ebb and fade away just as quickly.
