A good subtle drop is hard to master. Not just a big punch in the face with a boxing glove full of bass which any sweaty Ibiza pill monster could jump up and down to, but a delicate nudge into a pool of feathers which makes you feel like you're the only one in the room who's noticed it. Trickski perfected it last year with 'Pill Collins', and when it's done as well as it is here, it's absolute bliss.
Lowri picks: Four Tet - Locked Locked (TEXT011) by Four Tet
Four Tet continues to shine with his deft contstructions. The man is undisputably incredible. Just check out the way he manages to thread a beautiful vibe through this piece of lo fi, industrial mechanics. This builds and builds, the different parts all beavering away until they reach harmony and you smile slowly, the cat that got the cream.

Drum and bass is sounding pretty fudgin’ amazing right now, to be standing out against this backdrop of unremitting excellence requires serious measures of proficiency and flair. To be repeatedly submitting the kind of tracks that storm sales and sound systems requires something else altogether.
Enter Need For Mirrors, yeah.. that’s an odd name, who have spent the last couple of years intrepidly climbing to the fore of this inscrutable scene to become virtually (and gratefully) unavoidable on the dance floor. Any one of their recently released tech and bass monsters would make the cut, so I’ve just picked the one I’m listening to now.
Obviously not content with the frankly blistering speed at which they’ve been putting tracks out, the pair have created their own label, Zoltar. This is Erotic Relapse, the AA side to the new imprint’s very first release.
