In your face like a can of mace.

Tom picks: MANIK - Alwayz

Alwayz - M A N I K (Hot Creations) by mvinelli

If you've been to an underground house night around the UK over the last year chances are you're already familiar with the Hot Creations sound, even if you don't know it yet. The dark wobbly bass, the vocal micro-samples sung from inside a bucket, the razor sharp drums, all form the tech-disco style that has engulfed dancefloors since Jamie Jones' debut release on the label last year. This release from young super-talent MANIK should continue the label's onslaught of dancefloors. Keep up the good work.

Danny picks: Jamie XX - Far Nearer (Foamo remix)

Jamie XX - Far Nearer (Foamo Refix) by extramusicnew

I’ve always been partial to the hit of a steel drum (http://bit.ly/aesP5b, http://bit.ly/gjqrQ9), then a few months ago producer/remixer/DJ legend-in-his-own-time Jamie XX came along and made the tropical instrument cool. ‘Far Nearer’ had a nice bounce to it but Foamo has upped the anti, added various textures and created a pogo monster. You’ve gotta love that second drop! Get the free download while you can.

Johny picks: Midnight Magic - Beam Me Up (Jacques Renault remix)

Midnight Magic - Beam Me Up (Jacques Renault Remix) by future classic

There's so many funk-tinged disco vibes in this track that it's gotta be illegal to play this to an inebriated audience. Renowned disco nice guy Jacques Renault (no, not the bad guy from Twin Peaks) has done a great job in a great job in turning this into a boogie aide for revellers worldwide. He literally transformed something that sounds like a Hercules & Love Affair rip-off into a mix between Metronomy and Black Box. In the words of some certain Adult Swim stars: “Great Job!”.
