I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it....

Lowri picks: Freddy Todd - Transcend This
freddy todd - transcend this (featuring lila rosa) by vasilyevna

This, to me, is the perfect marriage of melody and techy crunch. The kick drums, the off kilter tempo, the weird, ascending synth - like sypases firing - the vocal lick and the way it seems to fall down the steep stairs of the bassline. Just listen. A minute in and I defy you not to be moved by the genius of Freddy Todd.

Tom picks: So Phat! - A Love Bizarre (Solomun remix) SO PHAT - a love bizarre (Solomun remix) by MΛT GΛLLΞT

This so-deep-you-can-swim-in-it rework of the Prince produced, Sheila E performed, 'A Love Bizarre' is just brilliant. In fact, it's probably not too dissimilar to how Prince would sound if he was born 20 years later. It's dark, bordering on spookily so, reminiscent of the 'Black Album' sessions, with a funky as hell guitar and bass relationship. Apparently Tony Humphreys dropped this at East Village a few weeks ago, Lord only know how that must have sounded on their bass heavy system - probably like a royal kick in the stomach from the King of House's horse.

Danny picks: Ryan Crosson - Make My Day Make My Day (Ryan Crosson's Morning Sorrow Remix) CJD14042011 1 by ryan_crosson

It was a huge moment at around 2:45pm on Thursday 20th October 2011. Transfixed were the world's eyes upon the stream of incoming prattle and rumour. Was it true or not? Contradicting tweets abound but then the truth was officially confirmed. Richie Hawtin WAS playing a set on The Boiler Room in Amsterdam!

Yet it was during Seth Troxler's set that my ears ignited with warmth from the rippling waves of bass. A tyrant dead and this pounding from the speakers. Relive my moment for yourself by playing from 4:34, and cranking that amp!
