Back in the room after two weeks of partying? Yeah, us too.

Lowri picks: The XX - Shelter (Alix Perez and Khanage remix)

The XX . Shelter . ALIX PEREZ x KHANAGE Remix . FREE DL by AlixPerez

This high tech belter is an absolute treat for the ears, body and soul. It also fits with my January vibes: shelter, darkness, moods, grumbling basslines. These existential woes are alleviated by beats and beats only.

It's the way that skittery beat kicks in which works wonders. And the soft vocals juxtapose the hard-edged blah blah - just listen to it! It's a beautiful helping of techy brilliance from Mr Perez and Khanage.

Emma picks: Julio Bashmore - Ensnare

Julio Bashmore - Ensnare [Future Boogie] by frankyboy

Ever since I watched an episode of The Thunderbirds when I was little, where an astronaut puppet is attacked and jettisoned off into space only to be incinerated by the sun, I've had no desire whatsoever to explore outside my own planet.

But perhaps if I had Julio Bashmore's 'Ensnare' to listen to, being lost in space wouldn't be so terrifying. The subtle, throbbing bassline, reverb-heavy guitar riffs and uplifting vocals make this a gently euphoric tune, one you can imagine having a bit of 'a moment' on the dancefloor to; or enjoying whilst merrily floating through the cosmos towards your impending doom.

Tom picks: Soul Clap - Shake Those Fries

FREE HOLIDAY DL! Shake Those Fries by Soul Clap / EFUNK

Soul Clap played a game of two halves last year. On the one hand, their DJ appearances saw them decline in my eyes from the ever-soulful crowd pleasers that I'd grown to love over the years, to disinterested bores wrapped up in their own egos. On the other hand, their productions were just so, so good. Lonely C was one of the year's wobbly-electronic masterpieces, and this edit carries the torch confidently into 2012. Quintessentially Soul Clap.
