Tom picks: Krystal Klear - We're Wrong Krystal Klear - We're Wrong by knockknocksyd

Hats off to Manc producer Krystal Klear for taking the sound of sweaty raves, pirate radio and piano loops and bringing it all guns blazing into 2012. There's even a take on the early 90s rap interlude (usually from a bloke with a hi-top fade, track top and bare chest). But 'We're Wrong' is more than just nostalgia house, it's one step back and two steps forward, and it signals the rise of an outstanding talent from which plenty more will undoubtedly come.

Lowri picks: NastyNasty - Hydra HYDRA (out NOW on Rwina Records) by NastyNasty

This sounds like the music that would be playing as you move through a digital city at night, stealthy, alone. You are soon to meet the end of level boss and the night feels....sinister. It quivers, then drops; the lazers wheelspin and sear you almost in half. So very big. So very heavy but managing also to delicately flutter like some insane moth. Put this on a big soundsystem. NastyNasty!

Emma picks: Dirty Honey - Tom Demac Dirty Honey by tomdemac

I love the teaser intro of 'Dirty Honey', which samples a well-known hip hop song featuring Kelis. Finely tuned ears might be able to place it before the vocals drop, just from the scant piano bars, 'sexy' hisses and bassline groove. Then Kelis enters the room and it all kicks off. You can imagine the smiles on the dancefloor as people realise they're jacking to Ol' Dirty Bastard. Love it.
