Favourite Sons – Safe For All Seasons
Low Rent Recordings
Favourite Sons - Safe For All Seasons by Low Rent Recordings
I can’t tell you much about Favourite Sons apart from the fact that they’re from Brooklyn , used to be on Vice Records and are absolutely amazing.
‘Safe for All Seasons’ sounds like Talking Heads, Crystal Stilts, The Flaming Lips and the Mamas and the Papas all combined into one of those huge, 30 member '60s psych bands and jamming on one amazing gospel/indie track. If you don’t think that this song is awesome, then there’s something seriously wrong with you. 4.9/5

Apparat – Song Of Los
Mute
Apparat - Song Of Los by Mute UK
Huge, dark, celestial 'Song of Los' crosses expansive choral arrangements with IDM, classical chamber music rides high over the electronic glitches, a throbbing human pulse meshes with the workings of a machine - and beautiful winding vocals.
The effect is dreamlike: bliss with a dark underbelly. Apparat made this record in Mexico. He attributes the sunny, lighter qualities to the site of its production. It's the first single from 'The Devil's Walk' - his forthcoming album. I absolutely love it. 4.5/5

Chrissy Murderbot – I'm A Asshole EP
Loose Squares
Chrissy Murderbot - "I'm a Asshole" EP [Loose Squares / October 2011] by chrissymurderbot
The king of footwork revival - Chicago's Chrissy Murderbot - returns with an EP packing juke, booty bass and grime into one rippling triple-stacked sandwich. It flexes many genre muscles.
Taking you from the raunchy bounce of the title track to the cheeky high jinx of 'I Nutted In You ' (a roll which recalls his juke hit 'Bussin Down'), via the distinctly hyperactive 'Pop That Shit' and high tempo bassline vibes of 'Girl', before winding up on a Miami bass tip with 'Back That Thang Up'. It's a high speed walk through the ghetto. With guest MCs. Bring the sizzurp.... 4/5

Real Estate – It’s Real
Domino
Real Estate - It's Real by snipelondon
Wow Real Estate, could your timing be any worse. There’s nothing inherently wrong with their new single ‘It’s Real’. It’s a nice, sun-kissed beach jam that floats through breathless vocals and tremolo guitar solos like a guy paddling out to catch that last wave of the day.
But why would they release it just as the weather starts to suck? It’s like they're trying to rub it in or something. 3/5

Author - The City

Author - THE CITY by Cargorecords
I've finally found the answer to something that's bugged me for years – somebody really does make music specifically for Babestation. Impossible to listen to without thinking of Southend-on-Sea, polo shirts with the collar turned up and “text this number to get your baby name” adverts. Awful. Really awful. 1/5
