"Sunporch" By Walls by Kompakt

In a shocking business move that can only be described as utterly unprecedented brand expansion, the international sausage and ice cream manufacturers turn their collective hands to uplifting and hypnotic electronica.

‘Sunporch’, the first single off their second album represents a marked increase in pace, less shoe gaze, and slightly more dance floor. The intermittent vocals are warped and effected to become ghostly echoes punctuating a tonality one could describe as a modern re-jig of that classic Tangerine Dream or early Vangelis sound. 4/5

Givers – Up Up Up
Glassnote

GIVERS Up Up Up by Glassnotemusic

Louisiana band, Givers, new single 'Up Up Up' is the brightest and sunniest song I have heard in quite a while. A four minute and a half track comprised of hand-claps, flutes, pop like guitar riffs and glockenspiels makes this single quite an adventurous spell.

This track that reminds me that there is something sunny, giddy and funny from Louisiana other than hot vampires - however the repetitive chorus becomes quite tiresome and tarnishes that sun kissed Americana sound.  3.5/5

Bleeding Knees Club – Have Fun
Noir Records

HAVE FUN by Bleeding Knees Club

I think I'm a bit bored of this. There's that whole '60s surf/garage sound that sounds like it was recorded in a tin can, the totally brain-dead lyrics – “and now you're twenty, I'm twenty-one” – and it only lasts 1 minute and 53 seconds. Which is normally a good thing right?

The problem is it's basically the same kind of vibe as Mazes' totally awesome 'Most Days', but not half as good. There's also a certain irony about the line “I just wanna have fun” being sung in such a joylessly knowing manner that I can imagine these guys ever having any fun at all. 3/5

Les Demoniaques – Teenage Lust
True Panther

Les Demoniaques- Teenage Lust by truepanther

Ever played with music editing software, taken a track and messed with the pitch? Well, that’s the effect in this track; sounds like the tempos were tampered with. Add a dreamy backing sound, guitar chords thus creating Les Demoniaques version of ‘Teenage Lust’. A relaxed, shoe gazing, Skins (the series) fan type of music.

This is a cover of The Jesus and Mary Chain. They have scarcely updated it. 2/5

Waylayers – Hear No Evil
Kitsune

Waylayers - Hear No Lies by sevensevens

No offense to Waylayers or anything, but this song couldn’t be safer if it tried. A vaguely hopeful mix of Coldplay and Black’s ‘Wonderful Life’, it’s the musical version of a Volvo or those crappy red scissors you were given in Year 1 that couldn’t even cut through crepe paper.

Put simply, it’s that non descript backgroundy music that’s fine for when you need to work a shift at Urban outfitters or retouch a thousand images, but personally when I need wallpaper music, I’ll keep sticking with Brian Eno. Come on, guys, where are your balls? 1/5

Cher Lloyd – Swagger Jagger
Syco Music

One of Britain's smartest pop craftswomen, Cher Lloyd, is back with her triumphantly amazing declaration of maturity entitled 'Swagger Jagger'. Here we are treated to modern-day lyricism at its finest as verses like, “Count that money, Get ur game up” resonate throughout the track, making it a worthy mantra to all her “haters” and abolishing the “talentless wigga” stereotype many have thrust upon her.

This song brings a tear to my eye, just like her X Factor audition where such pride struck her mother's heart when she sung “I get money” whilst dancing moronically (probably on purpose). 0/5
