This we learned that you should never pick a fight with a vegan.

Minority Unit – Demo

S/R

02 C.M.F. by Toxicbreed

There are a few bands that are knocking around right now who think they’re hardcore. I think we all know who they are.  From listening to this demo, I think we’d all agree that Minority Unit would kick seven bells of living crap out of them before stealing their girlfriends with some homemade banana cake.

Anyone who thinks vegans are pussies should listen to this – it will shred your mind. 4.5/5

Imelda May – Road Runner
Decca

Imelda May - Road Runner by Imelda May

Retro chick Imelda May’s new single is not, sadly, a musical tribute to the fleet-footed Looney Tunes character. Sigh. It is instead a delicious slice of toe-tapping, revved up rockabilly; true to the promise of the lyrics, the jumping beat that kicks in within the first few seconds never slows down.

Imelda’s having a blast and so are we with this hyperactive, sun-kissed track. She’s also apparently as snug as a bug, but everyone’s allowed a lame lyric or two. 4/5

Patterns – Induction
Melodic

Patterns - Induction by pullyourselftogether

Patterns have done their Mancunian predecessors proud with their début offering. Induction lies in a haze of warm psychedelia with just a tinge of that inimitable north-western swagger, in flashes it's almost The Stone Roses for the indie-electro generation.

My one complaint, which isn't really a fault rather than a difference in personal taste, is that the vocals are too distorted, leaving the song in danger of being lost in its own ambience. Even still, it's head and shoulders above a lot else out there. 4/5

VHS Head – Siege Express
SKAM

Siege Express by VHS head

If you ever wondered what Doctor Claw from Inspector Gadget has been doing since the cartoon ended and his career nose-dived after those terrible films (yes, there was a sequel!), well here’s your answer. He’s teamed up with Darth Vader to take over the universe through the medium of music.

The good Doctor can be heard spitting the odd line on this track, it’s a shame Darth had an asthma attack as soon as he started beatboxing. 3/5

dEUS – Keep You Close
S/R

dEUS - Constant Now by Pias France

This song sounds so deep and dramatic that I want to cry. With the criteria for the tear-flowing process mostly about being a single man that no-one will ever love, but also because it reminds me of all those soppy scenes in the movies.

You know the type, the ones that most of the population admits to crying over – usually in a bid to show members of the opposite sex that they have a sensitive side. Anyway, I didn't cry. At all.  1/5
