Original disco diva dies during the night.

 


The world of music is today mourning the loss of the original disco diva, Loleatta Holloway. It is thought that the 64 year old died after a brief illness, but no more details are known at this point.

The Chicago-born singer gained fame with songs such as 'Hit and Run' and 'Love Sensation', and her powerful voice became representative of the disco era in the mid to late seventies.

Tributes poured in on Twitter after her manager Ron Richardson confirmed her death last night, DJ Gilles Peterson tweeted "RIP Loleatta Holloway....a total soul and disco legend".
