This week we've got loveable stupidity from Fidlar, a bit of retro-futurism from Blanck Mass and a warning about the perils of force-feeding Lilt to hipsters from Theme Park...

Fidlar – Don’t Try
Mom + Pop
Fidlar - No Waves by Audiopleasures
When you see song names like ‘No Ass’ and ‘Got No Money’, you pretty much straight away what to expect from this new Fidlar EP: big, crass and loveably stupid garage rock ala Black Lips or that first Wavves record.
I know, I know, we’ve all heard this kind of stuff a gazillion times before, but I still love it. The general craziness of the music seems to tap into that inner kid of mine who used to go out into the woods and light fires for no reason. This EP is like 15 minutes of regression therapy for me. 4/5

Blanck Mass - White Math by softwarelabel
I imagine some people get really excited about this. The way it progresses slowly, building up and accelerating into euphoric bursts of twinkling synths. Unfortunately I’m not one of those people.
I recognize that I’m probably a boorish musical lout for wanting my tunes to pack a bit more punch, but being made to feel like I’m sat in the planetarium isn’t my idea of fun. I keep waiting for a voiceover to say “Introducing……the VCR home taping machine." Retro-futuristic is a name I wish I'd never had to make up. 3/5

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Household Goods by Greco-Roman
I can’t help but respect Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. His name might be a bit of a pain to write out all the time, but at least he can make post-whatever step club bangers without coming across like a stuck-up-his-own-arse dickhead like Skrillex or Calvin Harris. It must be the Native American head dress or something.
Anywhoo, ‘Household Good’ is pretty much indicative of the sort of music TEED makes. Bashful and un-offensive with some nice hooks and a pounding back beat, it’s like Belle and Sebastian for people who like dance music. 3/5

Theme Park – Jamaica
Transgressive
Theme Park - Jamaica (Radio Edit) by PluggedIn
I don't know where the Theme Park gentlemen are from but judging by their new single Jamaica, it sounds like they've been holed up in Maida Vale being force-fed Lilt.
This is light summer pop from the city. It's the coke-float of modern music; some sugar-addict's genius idea that is actually just meh. 2.75/5

NORTH ATLANTIC OSCILLATION - SAVAGE WITH BAROMETER by NAO
It's appropriate that in introducing this song you'd have to use so much climatic language. This is ‘Savage with Barometer’ by North Atlantic Oscillation from their album ‘Fog Electric’ and the entire song sounds like one long weather signal screeching through the white noise of some newborn independent radio station run by people who think paint balling is a sport.
Listening to this makes me think of someone trying and failing to reincarnate good music by getting Radiohead to give birth to Moby and it's a breech birth people, a breech birth. 1/5
