Crocodiles – Sunday

French Kiss

Crocodiles - Sunday (Psychic Conversation #9) by souterraintransmissions

A lot of 'feelgood' music (tune in to Magic at any point during the day to see what I mean) doesn't make me feel good at all; it makes me want to cut off my head. This, however, does make me feel awesome. It makes me want to open my sash windows, jump straight out onto the back of a waiting motorbike and speed off into the distance.

This is how Sundays should be - who wants to listen to a song about watching the Eastenders omnibus with the covers over your head? Glorious. 4/5

Veronica Falls –  My Heart Beats
Bella Union

Veronica Falls - My Heart Beats by Bella Union

Now that spring is with us,  I’m looking forward to reconnecting with my inner hippy. Pretty soon, when the weather gets really good, I’ll make some excuse about ‘going to Brick Lane’ but secretly  sneak off to Hackney marshes to spend the afternoon making daisy chains, skipping through wild flowers and frolicking with the newly emerged butterflies.

This year I think the soundtrack is going to be this new Veronica Fall’s song. It’s got a really good ‘Age of Aquarius’ vibe going on. 4.5

The Hacker – Shockwave
Different Recordings

THE HACKER "SHOCKWAVE" by the hacker

White gloves? Check. Vicks? Check. Set the controls for somewhere in the early 90s and hold on to your glowsticks folks. There's a bit of everything here: breaks, sci-fi sound effects, big stabbing synth hooks, it's like a How2 guide to rave.

It's dark and slightly threatening, but at a level that I can handle, like half an hour in Cyberdog, not a “this club is actually just a smack den and we're gonna have to pay to get out” level. 3/5

Still Flyin – Travellin’ Man
Mohsi Moshi

Travelin' Man by Still Flyin'

WOW. I totally wasn’t expecting this. Last time I heard Still Flyin’ they were doing that deliriously happy, kids singing at the school play indie pop thing, and now they sounding like Simple Minds meeting Coconut Records or something. What's happened?

I’m sure it’ll sound great as the theme song to one of those 90210-like teen drama were a bunch of impossibly good-looking 27 year olds pretend they’re 17 and use big words to talk about their feeling, but it’s a pretty big ‘meh’ from me. 3/5

Plan B – Ill Manors
Atlantic Records

Plan B - ill Manors by Atlantic Records UK

Plan B takes a stab at politics in a song where the most frequently used word is “Oi!” This is such mediocre, teenage crap it's hard not to get really really bored. There's something about Cameron, the Olympics, the riots, closing down community centres, shanks (inevitably) and ...God it's just so boring. 2/5
