Detroit, Denial and some bizarre opera: Editor's Choice - Theatre

11 May, 2012
by: Naima Khan

Every Friday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Naima Khan selects her top three plays.

All week
Detroit
 @ National Theatre

Austin Pendelton directs Lisa D'Amour's American play about the failing suburbs and the dying ambitions of the people who live there. A crowd-splitter I think. For more see my interview with director Austin Pendleton and actor Will Adamsdale

From 14th May
Toujours et pres de moi @ The Print Room
Opera like you've never seen before, not least because it's in the lovely down to earth Print Room. Creative use of multimedia and inescapable emotive sound combine in this show.

From 15th May
Denial @ King's Head Theatre
Taking a questionable case of abuse as its starting point, Arnold Wesker's Denial looks at manipulation inside and outside of the parent-child dynamic.
