Kafka, Ubu and Mayhem: Editor's Choice - Theatre

13 January, 2012
by: Naima Khan

Every Friday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Naima Khan selects her top three plays

From 17th January

Kafka V Kafka @ Brockley Jack
In Franz Kafka's letter to his father is a bulky 45 pages long and full of father/son angst. Depressing though it sounds, this play based on the letter looks like a meaty production that touches on issues faced by second generation immigrants as well as fathers and sons.

From 18th January
Trial of Ubu @ Hampstead Theatre
Playwright Simon Stephens and director Katie Mitchell take on Ubu as he faces an International Criminal Tribunal in the Hague in this look at the darkest human capabilities.

From 18th January
L'Immediat @ The Barbican
Orchestrated chaos unfolds at The Barbican as part of London International Mime Festival in the hands of Compaigne L'Immediat. A group of acrobats fend of an unrelenting circus of disaster in this hilarious look at the nature of mayhem and our reactions to it.
