The American starring George Clooney at London Film Festival on Spoonfed

Saturday 16th October
Our Life @ Curzon Mayfair
3.30pm
From director Daniele Luchetti comes a story of the underdog. Not quite as conventional as it sounds, Our Life follows blue-collar worker Claudio after tragedy pushes him to seek out a fortune he never thought he'd want. But the meritocracy rules and Claudio isn't as savvy as he thinks. Also, there are some very cute kids in this.

Saturday 16th October
The Nine Muses @ BFI (NFT 1)
6.30pm
A highly intelligent tapestry of archived material, new film, Shakespeare, Beckett and TS Elliot make up John Akomfrah's depiction of mass immigration to post-war Britain. It risks being a bit of an overload but essentially conveys a changing, adapting culture .

Sunday 17th October
The American @ Vue Leicester Square
2.45pm
The American isn't anything profound but you do get to see George Clooney carrying a big-ass gun. He plays an arms expert and assassin (if you've got the know how you may as well get your hands dirty) hiding out in the Italian countryside where he meets a lady and contemplates a different life. It's more complex than you first think and is brilliantly directed.
