London Film Festival - What to see - 18th-22nd

Monday 18th October
Everything Must Go @ Vue Leicester Square

Dan Rush's film based on the short story Why Don't you Dance? by Raymond Carver stars Will Ferrell as everyman Nick Halsey. Alcy Nick loses his job on the same day his wife leaves him, locks him out of the house and neatly arranges all his stuff on the lawn. In order to deal with the emotional and physical upheaval, Nick rents a bicycle from a kid and goes to buy a six pack.

Tuesday 19th October
Manilla Skies @ BFI (NFT 2)
4pm
Raymond Red directs the dreamlike Manilla Skies following an economic immigrant trying to save a little money in Manilla. Raul works hard and lives rough but when he applies for higher-paying employment, he finds himself working with robbers and hijackers. Expect aspects of  myth, film noir and a gritty underground quality.

Wednesday 20th October
It's a Funny Kind of Story @ Vue Leicester Square
7pm
A coming of age story featuring Emma Roberts as a self-harming psychiatric ward patient follows a “kind of” suicidal 16 year old who checks himself into a mental health facility. Directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden - the duo behind Half Nelson- It's a Funny Kind of Story is likely to split crowds and critics on its depiction of mental health issues.

Thursday 21st October

Close Friends and Family Only @ BFI (NFT 3)
6.30pm
A selection of short films ranging across genres includes funny, poignant depiction of close relationships between friends, families and couples. Featuring divorces, swinging, best friends and loners, seven films play in 1hr 45 minutes.

Friday 22nd October
Imani @ Ritzy Screen 2
6.45pm
Imani by director Caroline Kamya portrays three parallel stories following the lives of a former child soldier, a maid and a hip hop dancer, told over the course of a day the Ugandan Kampala.
