Every Friday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Naima Khan selects her top three plays.

From 20th October

The Last of the Duchess @ Hampstead Theatre
One of our very best of October selection, The Last of the Duchess look at what became of Wallis Simpson after the death of Edward. Nicholas Wright's play, directed by Richard Eyre does away with the sexy American villain so commonly depicted and takes on a the mysteries surrounding Simpson in her later life.

All week
Jumpy @ Royal Court
This week sees the opening of the Royal Court comedy, Jumpy. Tamsin Greig plays a fifty year-old mother missing her days as a Greenham Common protester and battling her teenage daughter's materialistic values. The Olivier Award-winning Grieg did a spectacular job of holding up the disappointingly three-legged Little Dog Laughed last year, so you can rest assured you'll get your money's worth with her centre stage.

All Week
Inadmissible Evidence @ Donmar Warehouse
Doctor Who star Karen Gillan treads the boards at Donmar Warehouse in this revival of John Osbourne's play about the disastrous effects of being ordinary. The play follows the spectacular mental decline of Bill Maitland as he puts himself on trial for being an indecisive, mediocre alcoholic who is way too emotionally dependent on the women in his life. Fun times.
