Youth, Age and Stupidity - Editor's Choice: Theatre

by: Naima Khan

Every Friday our editors bring you their personal highlights of the week ahead. Naima Khan selects her top three plays.

From Tuesday 13th September

Thick @ New Diorama
A comedy that celebrates the glories of the intellectually deficient. This contemporary, easy entertainment is to be found at New Diorama where Rupert, after being dropped on his head as a baby,  tries to find his way to a funeral.

From 17th September
When Did You Last See My Mother @ Trafalgar Studios
Christopher Hampton's debut play is a compelling look at our closest influences and what they do to our psyche.  It's not regarded like it once was, mostly because Hampton went on to write such excellent follow-ups but it remains a fantastic exploration of what it's like to be young and completely unsure of yourself.

From Tuesday 13th September
The Absence of Women @ Tricycle Theatre
Toying with the idea of returning to Belfast, Gerry and Iggy go over life's might-have-beens, all the while arguing like a married couple.
