venue Bar Kick Friday, 17 June
This is the place to be for foosball addicts. Anyone can enjoy some competition even if you're an amateur. Alternatively you can sit back and chat. It doesn't get too loud, except for the timely victory screams or defeat sighs from the foosball table. Bartenders are friendly, drinks are alright.
event Chicago Wednesday, 18 May
A young woman's plea for fame, with bits of feminist murder and court room drama... The story is fun, yet the staging falls short of the film version. Whistling is not uncommon in the theatre, thanks to girls with skimpy clothes, black laces and red lipstick. The musical is on for years now, which guarantees a mediocre enjoyment; but nothing far beyond.
event Miro Monday, 16 May
As with Tate Modern's Gaugin, you end up knowing whole lots about Miro and that's the point you start appreciating his art. So after all, he wasn't some weirdo drawing stars and out of frame eyes, they all meant something aesthetically and sometimes politically. The exhibition is curated brilliantly, taking you step by step into themes of Miro's life. The final series, "Fireworks" is the best way to show where his art culminated, outmost simplicity with inklings for the careful eye. Luckily by the time you reach there, you will be one of them.
venue XOYO Monday, 16 May
A seriously cool venue. Music downstairs is usually an out of body experience. Upstairs is for relative mainstreamers with an edge.
