Now in its 11th year, M_nus (a.k.a. Minus or M-nus) has consolidated itself as one of the most successful labels in the techno scene. Founded by British-born Canadian DJ/producer Richie Hawtin (a key player in Detroit techno's second wave in the 90s, now part of Berlin's minimal scene), it boasts a long roster of acclaimed artists, some of them long-established, some up-and-coming.
A select few - Magda, Marc Houle, Gaiser, Ambivalent, Troy Pierce, Barem, JPLS and Heartthrob - will join Hawtin at the O2 Academy Brixton on Saturday 26th September for the M_nus Contakt special.
It will be a one-off reprise of a collaborative performance that sold out across numerous worldwide venues during its 2008 tour (including London's SEOne). This is not your average club night, but instead a multimedia spectacle aiming to 'blur the line between when one DJ begins or ends.' You can expect gripping beeps and blips synchronised with visuals and LED displays, a full-sensory experience that will have you dancing nonstop.
Missing this Contakt special means the next opportunity to enjoy a collective offering on such a scale from Hawtin & Co. isn't until 23rd October, when they set out to deliver a 15-hour marathon session at the annual Amsterdam Dance Event. As far as London shows go, though, this is bound to be the last one for a while.
