Trouble Vision Dirty Canvas Christmas Showdown at Corsica Studios - Preview

by: Nuria

This Friday Trouble Vision and Dirty Canvas join forces for their Christmas Showdown at regular home Corsica Studios, a South London hub for eclectic line-ups, quality sound and good vibes.
Keeping with this ethos, the DJ bill for the festive bash is varied and impressive and spreads across three rooms, one of which is a silent disco. The common denominator for the night is bass, bass and more bass.
Headliners Heartless Crew know a thing or two about riling up a crowd with sets that fuse dancehall and grime with garage beats. Their sound is both catchy and bouncy - just check out killer single 'Heartless Theme' to get a taste.
Also headlining is the ubiquitous Sinden, famed for his bass-ridden collaborations with The Count (aka Hervé). If you like fidgety beats and wobbly basslines with sprinklings of hip-hop, he's up there with the best of them. The pair's latest single 'Mega' encapsulates the hyperactive, in-your-face approach to club music he's helped popularise.
Meanwhile, if you like the dancier side of dubstep, the underrated Brackles is in tow to blow your mind. The young producer's 2-step/dubstep productions play around with drum loops in a way that is much more adaptable to dance floor shenanigans than the average downtempo, broody fare. His set is bound to be a highlight.
Trouble Vision have also bagged up-and-comer Martelo. Once best known as the touring DJ for Santigold (formerly Santogold), he's fast acquiring a reputation as a standout within the electro/bassline scene. He's a master of mash-ups, so get ready to act hyper.
Completing the main line-up is grime producer Terror Danjah and his crew of MCs. Expect confirmation that UK grime is neither dead nor a purely underground affair as the mics and decks are rocked with equal fervour.
All in all, this is a top pick for seasonal clubbing, although a close contender is This Is Underground's Christmas Party, taking place on the same day at nearby Cable. If you like your beats heavy and the atmosphere ker-azy, both events will sate your appetite. Whichever night you go to, though, you better have boundless energy on reserve...
