Warrior One chat to Spoonfed about Chew The Fat's return to Cable this Saturday night.

This Saturday, Chew The Fat returns to Cable with their best line-up to date. Following the success of previous joint events, Paul Arnold's label crew joins forces once again with alternative party promoters, The Z-Shed.
Taking care of Room 2, The Z-Shed team are set to rock up with a gang of the usual noise-mongers, including Your Neice, Them DJs, Mr Recktomy, Kevlar, Mustard Gunn, Pirate Soundsystem and Absnif. What makes The Z-Shed so unique is their complete disregard for genres. So long as it's got enough bass to make your spleen rot, it's getting played. However, don't expect any respite in Room One as it's set to go off just as hard courtesy of Chew The Fat's very own special guests who join their trusty resident DJ, Foamo, for an evening of filthy sonic frolics.
Every one of the main room acts are big names unto themselves. Foamo, Trevor Loveys and Warrior One all represent the diversity of the UK house scene, while Nero, Reso and Emalkay showcase the finest in club-destroying dubstep. Boy 8-Bit is the headliner for the night, topping off what was already a magnificent bill. With his recent surprise release of the 'Still Killing' EP out now on Mad Decent, Boy 8-Bit is clearly still at the top of his game. Last year's 'Baltic Pine' still finds its way into many a DJ set and mixtape, and his recent remix of Booka Shade's 'Donut' is as majestic and elegant as dance music can get. Many of his contemporaries can be listed among his fans including Diplo, Fake Blood, and Warrior One.
Two chaps out to make beats and have a good time doing so, Warrior One certainly don't take themselves too seriously. That's not to say that they're music suffers as a result; in fact quite the opposite. Their sound is energetic and full of character, infusing dancehall vibes with fast-pace carnival-tinged house beats – they describe their vibe as 'jungle house'. They're love of jungle music is reflected in their latest remix of Foamo's 'Centavo' which is a straight up old school jungle take on the original, complete with Amen break. Perhaps best known for their track 'Bad like Jimmy Cliff', the duo divulge a little more about themselves and what to expect from their set this Saturday:
What have you got in store for this weekend at Chew The Fat?
We'll be dropping some brand new Warrior One Remixes of Lee Mortimer, Diesler, Dreadzone, and Leni Ward plus our new EP (available soon on King Pigeon Records)!
Have you played at Cable before, and who are you most excited about being billed along side?
Nope. Never played Cable but looking forward to it. Interested to hear Boy 8-Bit and we want to see what Your Niece looks like...
You guys, Toddla T, and Major Lazer are at the forefront of bringing dancehall and ragga into the mainstream dance arena, do you have any Carribean roots? How have you come to be involved in this scene?
We're about as Carribean as Toddla T and Diplo! We like making people dance!
Do you have any future collaborations lined up?
Just about to drop a collab with Serocee on our next EP and a new track is due for release very soon featuring Rubi Dan on a supercool US label... hopefully!
Which one of you two is the baddest, 'like Jimmy Cliff'?
We're both badder than Jimmy Cliff, which isn't all that bad really.... Last time we met him he was very polite.
Who's your favourite artist from within UK dance music at the moment?
Has to be L-Vis 1990 or Redlight.... But to be fair, loads of UK producers are killing it right now.
What does the future hold for Warrior One?
Love, health, happiness and truck loads of money.
