venue Madame Jojo's Tuesday, 23 February
This was the first club I ever went to in London, and it set a pretty high standard. Breaking out of the cheesy Top 40 dance mode of a lot of the Soho tourist jaunts, Madame Jojo's is quirky, intimate and music-wise covers everything from electro to indie.
venue The Edinburgh Cellars Tuesday, 23 February
A bit of a downer during the week, but if you're lucky you'll find this place going off of a Saturday night. If you're a Green local and the weather outside is just a little too bitter to consider venturing out to Islington or Hoxton, this could be a good option for a weekend night out.
venue The Old Queen's Head Tuesday, 23 February
A reliably fun and buzzing watering hole in the Angel/Islington bar circuit, anyone who lives in this neighbourhood and many from further out frequent this place of a weekend. Mid-week is probably your best bet though - there's no cover charge, you can skip the half-hour wait at the bar and there are often great live music acts.

A fantastically grungy hidden gem on Upper St, with old-school gritty floors and the smell of 20-year-old beer lingering from wild nights past. If you like your pubs old-school and you're longing to tap into London's punk past, you'll enjoy yourself here.
venue Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen Tuesday, 23 February
The undisputed place to be in Hoxton Square of a weekend. I've never had a bad Friday or Saturday night here - the music is tip top, the bar queues are never huge despite the generally ridiculous queues outside and if you're lucky, you can catch big-name bands here too (they love it as much as the commoners). Be prepared for a night to remember (or not remember, depending how hard you go...)

A great and underrated Hoxton haunt. A little more chilled than the nearby Hoxton Bar and Grill, it's fabulous for catching up with friends for a few mojitos mid-week or getting your dance on on a Saturday night.
