Sarah Rose Cockcroft previews the tasty looking One Love Festival.

A mere 30 minutes away from Liverpool Street on the tube the setting for One Love festival couldn’t be easier to get to for London residents. Not only is it convenient but it is also set in the beautiful Hainault Forest Country Park with its lakes, views, country walks and even a zoo the festival is a perfect place to get away from city life and enjoy what the festivals really about – the music.

The festivals philosophy is to ‘bring reggae and the message of Bob Marley to the people – one love, one heart’ it’ll be no surprise to hear that the legend him self’s son has been added to the line-up – yep that’s right Julian Marley will be heading the bill with all kinds of reggae, dub and spoken word acts no doubt feeling privileged to perform under him.

Going into its third year One Love will be held at the same time of Jamaica’s 48th anniversary of independence and the outstanding line-up this year is a perfect way to celebrate this. What with Julian Marley, award-winning artist Luciano will also be headlining. Other acts include David Rodigan, Ras Kwame, Don Letts and newer act on the reggae scene the Scottish Mungo’s Hi-Fi.

Alongside the one love message the festival also stick to what all festivals should be doing and promoting recycling, using 100% compost toilets and solar- powered showers.

So what are you waiting for tickets are a mere £90 for the weekend including camping. If you can’t make it the whole weekend why not just pop along for the day with tickets priced at £40 for Friday and Saturday and £30 for the Sunday.

Oh and don’t forget your best Pirate gear as the theme for Sunday’s carnival is Pirates of the Caribbean.
