As well as Wimbledon and Test matches at Lord's, another very English summer sporting pastime is the Henley Regatta

June 30 – July 4 2010
We all know the British summer is very fleeting, so cramming in as many fair weather activities as possible is very necessary. One of the quintessential English events of the summer calendar is the historic 5-day rowing event taking place on the River Thames at Henley-Upon-Thames, known as the Henley Royal Regatta.
The Henley Regatta is a high profile and high society event that attracts everyone from City boys entertaining corporate clients to Royals and relatives all in high spirits.
Henley Royal Regatta's rowing races attract crews from all over the world to compete in the 550-yard course in a series of knock-out competitions, the most prestigious of which is winning the Grand Challenge Cup for the Men's Eights. There are various other cups and prizes for rowing races in the categories of intermediate men, club men, students, junior boys and open women.
This rowing event actually pre-dates Royal patronage and is therefore commonly just referred to as The Henley Regatta. The inaugural Henley Regatta was held in 1839 and also pre-dates any national or international rowing race so has its own rules and regulations.
The Henley Regatta 2010 will be held from June 30 to July 4 and tickets are from £55 with many hospitality packages on offer.
