Central London is home to some of London’s and this country’s most reputable and established academic institutions. Also some of the best London activities. Convenient, that.

If your student digs, college campus, or university union are located in central London or you simply find yourself up in that part of town, Spoonfed has sent the student entertainment search hyper-local.
Additionally Spoonfed has clocked that London is rather large and so we've split the student activities into bite-size chunks – well, that is what we do best after all. For students living, studying, working, wandering, sleeping, squatting, or clubbing in central London, here are a few activities to keep you entertained.
Eating
Combining the mercantile delights of a delicatessen and cafe, Comptoir Libanais on Wigmore Street has a real retro vibe going on. Its walls are adorned with products smiling at you with broad, colourful labels and middle-eastern mosaic murals. Cheap and cheerful, you can pick up some home-made Lebanese flatbread or sit down with a coffee and some Turkish delight.
Mandalay on the Edgware Road is everything you could possibly expect: established reputation, friendly service, lengthy menu, tasty Burmese food and cheap prices. Consistently performing at such a level assures a great meal out for anyone.
Nights Out
Central London is heaving with places and people and is the home to most of London’s higher education institutions. Which means these London students will need some advice on where to catch the latest bands, DJs, and music gigs.
The Borderline in the Orange Yard, just off Charing Cross road, is just such a place to unwind, grab and beer and watch anything from live rock to acoustic folk bands, or maybe join in on the dancefloor at its very popular indie-electro nights.
We can’t get away with not putting this one on the list of great nights out for students in London, so here it is – Madame Jojos. Located on Brewer Street in Soho, this stylish yet unpretentious nightclub breaks the stereotype of fancy Soho clubs, turning out pretty good music without the usually hefty entry price tag.
Other Activities
The best place to go for some great, and free, exhibitions is the Wellcome Collection just near King's Cross Station. The permanent collections of medical history paraphernalia are weirdly fascinating and the temporary art shows are almost always completely brilliant. There's also a pleasant little cafe, and afterwards we recommend you pop into Bar Pepito for a wee glass of sherry. Classy.
London’s Southbank is the perfect London student lair. Browse old books at the riverbank stalls, watch skaters do their tricks, step into a cafe for a spot of munch, go to play at the National Theatre, see some live music at the Royal Festival Hall or simply pick a bench and people watch all afternoon.
The Museum of London and the Barbican Centre are other cultural hubs based in Central London and should not be written off. Free exhibitions and shows are a plenty and showcase everything from classical music, films, and workshops to avant-garde painters, art installations and historical exhibitions.
