If your student digs, college campus, or university union are located in south London or you simply find yourself up in that part of town, Spoonfed have sent the student entertainment search hyper-local.

Well, odds are that with so many universities and colleges based in south London, there are bound to be a number of raggedy students running around this part of town

If your student digs, college campus, or university union are located in south London or you simply find yourself up in that part of town, Spoonfed have sent the student entertainment search hyper-local.

Additionally Spoonfed has clocked that London is rather large and so we've split the student activities in to bite-size chunks – well, that is what we do best after all. For students living, studying, working, wandering, sleeping, squatting, or clubbing in south London, here are a few activities to keep you entertained.

Eating

Tsuru on Canvey Street and a hop skip (you know the rest) from Elephant and Castle campuses, dishes up a cracking katsu from experts in the field of Japanese cooking.

Hot Stuff on Wilcox road, a 5-10 min walk from Vauxhall, is a veritable diamond in the rough. Set against a backdrop of housing estates, this little restaurant dishes up some of the best curry south of the river. Charming staff too.

Nights Out

Most students enjoy a good night out, right? Brixton, Clapham, Camberwell and Kingston all offer a brilliant night out on a budget for the discerning London student. Here a couple of venues we’ve recommended before and so long as they keep dishing out good nights, we’ll continue to do so.

The White House in Clapham is very popular and hosts some good nights and bears a lot of its local students in mind. Venue for the BreaksPoll pre-party, we consider this to be a marker of good taste.

The Windmill is charming but lively little pub in Brixton's back streets. Expect gigs, beer garden, BBQ and bands like the Darkness.

Cable is another awesome venue and very student-friendly. Nestled into one of railway arches near Tower Bridge, this club fuses quality nights out with a typically London grunge aesthetic.

Other Activities

Students need to be amused, what with all that free time to use up. South London is a great playground for London's students, so here are a few ideas to get you started or stoke the imagination.

Greenwich Market – there from Wednesday through to Sunday this is a great place to rummage for one-off fashions, pick up some organic foods or indulge in handmade crafts. And you only need a travel card to get there.

Fancy a dip in one of Europe’s largest open-air pools? The Tooting Bec Lido offers such a service at the bargain price of £4.50 entry. Open from May to September this is one of London’s best outdoor summer activities on the cheap.

We’re gonna rock down to Electric Avenue... to visit Brixton Market. This might be where you used to find a mango or a new snazzy cover for your mobile, but times have changed. New local authority initiatives have brought in new entrepreneurs to revive this vibrant market place. Expect pop-up galleries, vintage stores, textiles shops and great little cafes for jerk chicken, pizza or tea ‘n’ cupcakes.

You’d also have to have your head in the sand not to realise that the Tate Modern is located in south London. Having just celebrated its 10th anniversary this is a superb place to catch a free exhibition or simply just to wander its gigantic halls in search of the next Damien Hirst or Anish Kappoor.
