If your student digs, college campus, or university union are located in west London or you simply find yourself up in that part of town, Spoonfed have sent the student entertainment search hyper-local.

If your student digs, college campus, or university union are located in West London or you simply find yourself up in that part of town, Spoonfed have sent the student entertainment search hyper-local.

Additionally Spoonfed has clocked that London is rather large and so we've split the student activities in to bite-size chunks – well, that is what we do best after all. For students living, studying, working, sleeping, squatting, or clubbing in west London, here are a few activities to keep you entertained.

Eating

Eating on a budget in London is manageable with the know-how, but instead of collecting vouchers for Nandos, take a few risks, go further afield, try something you normally wouldn’t, then hang it on the grapevine. Here are a few we’ve picked:

Cafe Ginkgo in Hammersmith looks like a boat house except that its wedged underneath the District Line. Its menu is packed with imaginative home cooking, but remember this is a café, so don’t expect duck à l’orange. Not that you would...

Santa Maria in South Ealing, with its wood-fired oven, serves the best pizza this side of Naples. Or at least this side of west London. So take a seat, order a Peroni and wait for Italy to come to you.

Nights Out

London’s students need to let off steam, to catch a break from those oppressive books and stuffy libraries. We appreciate this and are here to help you let your hair down.

Notting Hill Arts Club is a regular haunt for new, edgy bands, and packed with trendy professionals and youthful types. This underground club showcases a range of live music and DJs. Saturdays at the Notting Hill Arts Club are particularly lively, with new talent and free entry.

Every since its image and clientele overhaul, The Westbury is now the place to dance, drink, play pool and be seen. Resident DJ night Juicebox has won over many of London’s young folk and hosts similar free to cheap entry nights out.

Other Activities

West London might not be teeming with super clubs or mega nights out, but what it can offer you that no other part of London can is culture and museums.

The V&A, Natural History, Science Museum and the Wallace Collection are all based in West London and feature many free permanent collections and cheap, if not student discounted, exhibitions all within budget reach. There's not much excuse for London’s students who don't take advantage of the art, culture and history available to them in these institutions.

If you want to join in with some debate, maybe air a few concerns over issues that move you, then head on over to Speakers Corner in Hyde Park. Amongst the ramblings and hecklings of some rather dotty people, this makes for an unusual yet free outing. If you get bored and decide you’ve seen enough, maybe go rent a pedalo and sail around the Serpentine.

Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush is one of the best indie venues in London. Hosting everything from intimate London gigs to bar mitzvahs this is a great and unique venue. Catch Mica Paris to Natty playing here.

The Luminaire is another great place for London students to hang out and catch a live gig or two, plus it’s set above the pub The Kilburn. What’s more it’s just a stone’s throw away from The Westbury.
