About Camden

Camden, the informal name for the district Camden Town, is central both physically and culturally in London. It is perhaps best known for the Camden street markets, in particular the Camden Lock market, but Camden is also a hub of youth culture and live music venues and has been featured in numerous songs, films and televisions shows.  It is located north west of the City of London and north of Regent’s Park.

The Camden Scene

Camden has served as a centre of alternative culture since the 1960s and today still appeals to fans of many musical subculture groups including goth, indie, metal and punk.  The large number of popular live music venues bring in a wide range of performing acts.  Camden has also received press recently as the London hang-out of singer/celebrity Amy Winehouse.
