Line-ups, updates and news for Affordable Art Fair 2010.

When: 21st-24th October 2010
Where: Battersea Park
How much: from £8 to £20
Founded in 1999 by Will Ramsay, the brilliant Affordable Art Fair has since expanded rapidly and is now an impressive global operation. There are two fairs a year in London, as well as fairs in Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, New York and Singapore.
The origins of Affordable Art Fair stem from 1996 when Ramsay set up Will's Art Warehouse in south west London. The aim was to focus on emerging contemporary artists, with work priced between £50 and £2,500. Today, in the UK at least, the price range is now between £50 and £3,000, although you can often actually find work for even cheaper than that.
What sets sets AAF apart is two things: the first is the price. As the name suggests, art here is affordable – people are here to fall in love with works of art and buy them for their houses. And the second is the atmosphere: everyone at AAF – exhibitors and visitors alike – always seems to be genuinely enjoying themselves.
One aspect of AAF always worth a look is the Recent Graduates section, usually housed at the front of the marquee in Battersea Park – this is a great chance to see (and invest in) work by the next generation of artistic talent.
