Squeamish? Maybe click the back button pretty sharpish...

Stelarc

OK so this is a weird one. An Australian performance artist has had a human ear grafted onto his arm and this February he's coming to London. Yes, you read that right, a human ear. Weird, right?

Very weird, we reckon, but also potentially really rather fascinating. Apparently the ear – grafted on by a doctor thankfully – can not only hear but actually transmit audio signals. Excitingly, the artist – known as Stelarc – will be in London for the Kinetica Art Fair from 4th-6th February so head over to Ambika P3 in Marylebone to have a gawp (ahem, we mean ponder the ever-shifting boundaries between art and science).

Kinetic art (which this sort of qualifies as) was pioneered by Marcel Duchamp in the 1910s and was all the rage in the '50s and '60s. Today though, with all the technology available to contemporary artists, it's arguably even more exciting than ever before.

At Kinetica Art Fair you can expect to see weird and wonderful works by some of the world's leading kinetic artists, including Maholy Nagy, Tim Lewis, Jean Tinguely, Alexander Calder and Duchamp himself.

Kinetica Art Fair
is at Ambika P3 from 4th to 6th February 2011.
