A famous piece of Banksy graffiti has been defaced. Cue uproar on Twitter!

In news that will come as something of a shock to those who care about such things, a piece of famous Banksy graffiti on Essex Road in Islington, London has been, gasp, defaced. The work – on the side of a pharmacy near to Essex Road Station – depicts three children raising a plastic bag up a flagpole, and is one of Banksy's best known.
The defacement is thought to have been carried out by 25-year-old King Robbo, a rival of Banksy, or one of his followers. In a piece of ingenuity, whoever carried out the heinous deed had to remove a piece of protective perspex sheeting, which they then replaced afterwards.
For probably the first time in living memory, Essex Road is currently a trending topic on Twitter – partly due to this Banksy scandal, but mainly thanks to one Lily Allen, who has resumed usage of the social networking site. She tweeted today: “i need a stuffed flamingo. any ideas?' to which her more clued up fans replied by suggesting the wonderful Get Stuffed taxidermy shop on Essex Road. God bless the internet, huh.
