Celebrities draw for the children of wartorn Darfur.

What do Rolf Harris and the Pope have in common? No, it's not that they both inspire worldwide devotion (although they do). It's that, of all the artists and 'celebrities' to have got involved in the Drawn to Darfur project, they're the only two to present signed photos of themselves, rather than original works of 'art'. Oh well, at least they're doing their bit...
The project, organised by charity Kids for Kids, aims to raise awareness for the children of war-torn Darfur, in the Sudan. But it is also, hopefully, a big money-raiser, with all the works to be auctioned off on 15th September by a strange pairing of auctioneers – London gallerist Chris Beetles and author, baron and convicted perjurer Jeffrey Archer.
Of the other artists involved, David Cameron, we can reveal, has a nice line in puns and cartoon sheep, Cliff Richard's talents sadly don't extend to the visual arts (unless you count his outfit in Wired for Sound) and Peter Thompson is the only one who feels the need to say who he actually is – “an old rugby player”, as he rather charmingly refers to himself.
Other artists/celebrities involved include Cornelia Parker – who's produced a brick dust ink blot; Andrew Marr – a lush green landscape drawn on his iPod; Ken Howard – a drab painting of Venice; and Joanna Lumley – a goatherd and rather excellent goat.

The Drawn to Darfur auction is at Seaford House, Belgrave Square, on 15th September and the auctioneers are Jeffrey Archer and Chris Beetles. There is also a private view at Chris Beetles on 31st August. Tickets for the auction, which include the private view and a copy of the limited edition book are £75 from Kids for Kids.
