Explore Bloomsbury's weird medical history with the Wellcome Collection's brand new interactive iPhone app.

Ooh exciting! Wellcome Collection have teamed up with City Stories Walks to produce a brand new iPhone application. The enticiingly entitled Blood, Guts, Brains and Babies is an interactive virtual tour guide that takes you around Bloomsbury – its buildings, back streets and secret hidden stories.

Written and presented by Richard Barnett with narration by Dilly Barlow, the three-mile walking tour explores Bloomsbury's unsual medical past – from the Royal College of Surgeons to the London School of Medicine for Women, from orphanages to graveyards and George III's private madhouses.

Ken Arnold, Head of Public Programmes at Wellcome Collection said: “By weaving treasures from the Wellcome Collection into the app, we have created a fully immersive experience for all to explore the curiosities of London’s medical heritage at their own pace”.

The whole thing is completely free and promises a fascinating insight into the nooks and crannies of Bloomsbury's past. It's almost embarassing how much we love the Wellcome Collection, so we're pretty certain this'll be amazing. All we need now is an iPhone...
