Haunch of Venison celebrate their tenth birthday in style.

Haunch of Venison

Art world big-hitters Haunch of Venison are expanding their operation with the opening of a second London gallery this March. Located on Eastcastle Street in Fitzrovia, the new 2,750 space will open with a solo show for exciting young Scottish artist Katie Paterson.

The news of the new London gallery comes only a few months after both existing Haunch of Venison galleries moved locations. The New York branch moved from the Rockefeller Centre to Chelsea, whilst the London gallery moved out of its temporary home on Burlington Gardens to the original, but impressively revamped, home in Haunch of Venison Yard.

The news means that Eastcastle Street is rapidly emerging as an important location for the London art world - other galleries on the street include Getty Images, Stuart Shave, Whisper, Art First, Regina Gallery, Pilar Corias and Carroll / Fletcher (opening this February). With the selection of nearby galleries including the likes of TJ Boulting, Paradise Row, Rollo, Alison Jacques and David Roberts, Fitzrovia is clearly where it's at these days.

The news also means that Haunch of Venison join the likes of Gagosian, White Cube, Sadie Coles and Hauser & Wirth on the list of galleries with more than one space in London. Clearly things are going well despite (or perhaps because of) the departure of founders Harry Blain and Graham Southern in 2010.

Matt Carey-Williams, International Director, Haunch of Venison London says: “Haunch of Venison will be ten years old this year and we’re looking forward to celebrating this with a strong and dynamic programme of exhibitions while simultaneously supporting all of our artists in their numerous external projects happening around the world.”
