Have you got what it takes to be an art thief? Take on the Lazer Maze at Future Gallery and find out.

Lazer Maze

The art thieves have been busy bees of late. Only last month one nifty fingered robber managed to saunter off with five masterpieces, pilfered from the Museum of Modern Art, Paris. And as the latest Magnum ice-cream advert proves, they're even at it on the TV now too. What madness. But hey ho, if you can't bet these villains, why not join them? After all, art theft is a white-collared crime, up there with with tax evasion and the like, so you'll be in good company. Your cell-mate might be a City boy. As prison and criminal records go it won't be too shabby at all.

Anyway, you might not even get caught. Especially if you get in a spot of practising in at the Lazer Maze first. On Friday 25th June, the Future Gallery in Leicester Square invites anyone who has ever fancied themselves as a bit of an art thief to attempt to break into the gallery and steal the prized paintings. Amazing! Of course, it won't be a doddle; a series of high-tech lasers have been put in place and will bounce through the space and the smoke. One toe out of line could result in the alarms going berserk. We can feel the tension already.

Opportunists be warned, it won't be a free for all. Between 6.30pm-9pm any would-be villains, decked out in the obligatory East End tracksuits and catsuits, will be divided into teams of six, the idea being, you have to work together to creep through the laser maze and solve a series of tricky tests. Later on, once you've stocked up on a bit of Dutch courage at the bar, you can venture out on your own and try your hardest to avoid the shame of humiliation and the punishment song blaring out (KRS One – 'Sound of the Police').

Emerge victorious and who knows, the gallery might just let you walk off with a painting. Or, more likely let you touch it, or at least get within arms reach of it. And if you're even just a bit curious and fancy listening to relentless snippets from that legendary American MC, KRS One, then come on down too. The more the merrier. We'll be dusting out our catsuits that's for sure.

Lazer Maze is at The Future Gallery, Friday 25 June 18:00-23:30.
