Underground art gets its very own art fair.

Moniker International Art Fair

When: 14th - 17th October 2010
Where: Village Underground
How much: tbc

Every year The Frieze Art Fair cements its status as the one stop art extravaganza, but this year there's a new kid in town...the Moniker International Art Fair. If you want to cram as much art as possible into four days or just want a welcome change then this fair is competing for your attention.

With a main focus on work from the street art movement, the event will include galleries from LA, New York, Milan and London. The fair strives to highlight the work of a generation of artists often overlooked in British mainstream fairs” – let's pretend we don't know what fair they're referring to...

The best thing in street art since Banksy caught everyone's eye, Moniker will also include six project spaces where artists will create site-specific art installations. Artists include Steve Powers, Herakut, Katrin Fridriks and Titi Freak, and they are sure to impress, with each giving their own artistic definition to street art.

A stand-out collaboration takes the form of Herakut who are made up of Hera and Akut. Together they combine photorealist style with painterly methods. Whilst Akut paints the faces of their gamine pixie-like girls Hera adds a body to the figure that even Akut cannot anticipate.
