Mobile Conference 2 @ South London Gallery
Free, 1.30pm
Organised by Peckham Space and South London Gallery, Mobile Conference 2 consists of as tour of off-site art projects across Peckham and Camberwell. Featuring artists Lottie Child, David Cotterrell and Febrik, as well as various local residents, teachers and young folks, the aim of the afternoon is to kick off discussions about social history and the aims and possibilities of urban development.
Monday 4th April
David Eagleman @ Southbank Centre

Billed as “one of science's great storytellers”, David Eagleman is at the Southbank Centre this April to discuss his new work, Incognito – The Secret Lives of the Brain, as part of the ever-brilliant Ether Festival. Exploring ideas around the unconscious, Eagleman asserts that our thoughts, feelings and decisions are not as conscious or controlled as we might like to think.
Wednesday 6th April
Born to Rule @ Standpoint Gallery
Free, 4pm
As part of performance art duo Jordan McKenzie and Aaron Williamson's show at Standpoint Gallery, just off Hoxton Square, they're hosting an afternoon salon discussion with Shadow Culture Secretary Ivan Lewis on the opening Wednesday afternoon. Expect a range of anti-Tory satire and discussion. Preaching to the converted? Maybe, but it should at least be fun.
Monday 11th April
What's the Point of Art Now? @ St Ethelburga’s
£8, 7pm
Film producer and Labour Lord, David Puttnam, gives a talk concerning the point of art, now and into the future. The cuts to arts funding – and the recent abolition of the Film Council – are likely to be the hot topics, but these are hopefully merely a starting point to a more broad-ranging discussion of the very purpose of art, and its role within contemporary society.
Tuesday, 12th April
What Makes a Great Play? @ Wilton's Music Hall
£5, 7.30pm
In association with the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting, Wilton's Music Hall plays host to a discussion about the qualities that make for a great play. Chaired by The Times Theatre Critic, Libby Purves, and featuring award-winning playwrights David Eldridge, Rebecca Lenkiewicz and Roy Williams, as well as Josie Rourke, the Artistic Director at Bush Theatre, this evening is aimed squarely at aspiring playwrights.
