Art, books and wine - an evening with Spoonfed at the South Bank Centre.

Wine tasting with Spoonfed

Attention Spoonfed readers! We've teamed up with one of our favourite galleries to present a very special (free!) evening at the South Bank Centre, and you're invited.

On 1st August at 6.30pm we'll be co-hosting an art opening and wine-tasting at the Saison Poetry Library, on Level 5 of the Royal Festival Hall. The event is in collaboration with artists' books gallery Kaleid Editions, who are curating a series of exhibitions at the library as part of the anniversary of the Festival of Britain, and Io Bevo Romagnolo, a young group of Italian vineyards, small producers and restaurateurs. Art, books, wine – what's not to like!

This August, the night before the official launch, Spoonfed readers are invited to the Saison Poetry Library for an evening of wine-tasting courtesy of Io Bevo Romagnolo. They'll be bringing a fresh selection of unusual wines from the best independent producers in Romagna in order to provide an introduction to one of central Italy's best-loved viticulture regions.

In addition to the wine tasting, the evening also marks the opening of Kaleid's latest exhibition at the Saison Poetry Library. Funded by the Arts Council, the library is dedicated to poetry from 1912 onwards, it's free to join, and is an invaluable resource to lovers of poetry throughout the UK. On show there this month will be strangely spectral work on paper by Katherine Jones as well as a new animation by Meghana Bisineer – the product of the artist's residency at the library.

Kaleid Editions became one of Spoonfed's favourite ever places when they were based on Redchurch Street, and since April they've been collaborating with the Southbank Centre for four months' worth of exhibitions entitled Art on Poetry. The project has seen Kaleid enlist a series of interesting and innovative contemporary artists to respond to the works in the Saison Poetry Library, through a series of exhibitions, interventions, residencies, and other assorted events. There's been interactive screen-based textual pieces, an absorbing stop-motion video, and, last time we were there, a family-friendly workshop creating cut and paste political slogans with a photocopier.

Wine Tasting with Spoonfed is at the Saison Poetry Library, Level 5, Royal Festival Hall, Belvedere Road SE1 8XX from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Monday 1st August 2011.

Places are limited. Please email exhibitions@spoonfed.co.uk with the subject line 'Spoonfed Wine Tasting' in order to reserve your spot.
