An afternoon of art and delicious wines. Don't say we don't spoil you!

Gusbourne Estate Royal Academy

And we're at it again. After the success of Spoonfed's last event at the Royal Academy, we're back once more for an afternoon of sundry sensual delights. And of course, we're inviting you!

On Saturday 12th November at 3.30pm we'll be hosting a special event that combines viewing art with some rather fine refreshments in the beautiful Weston Rooms of the Royal Academy of Arts, on Piccadilly. The event celebrates the fourth exhibition in the Artists' Laboratory series, which this winter consists of a monumental site-specific installation by John Maine. Drinks are provided by the splendid Gusbourne Estate.

The concept behind the Artists' Laboratory series is to allow a Royal Academician the time and the space to do something a little bit different, and exhibit work that diverges from their usual practice. John is best known for major outdoor commissions, like the new Green Park station, but for this exhibition he's produced an indoor work made up of massive stone pieces, inspired by his participation as an advisor in the restoration of the incredible thirteenth century Cosmati Pavement in Westminster Abbey.

Aside from the art that's on show, the other exciting element is obviously the wine. Based down in Kent – in the 'Garden of England' – Gusbourne Estate is one of England’s newest and most exciting vineyards. Currently they offer three quite different English sparkling wines – a Brut Reserve, a Blanc de Blanc and a sparkling rosé – all of which have their own unique characteristics. 2006 was Gusborne's first commercial vintage, and saw the vineyard win a host of awards, as well as come in first place in a blind tasting by one of the most respected names in the wine industry: the FT's Jancis Robinson.

This is an amazing opportunity to see John Maine's work at the Royal Academy for free, whilst also enjoying a glass of sparkling wine or two in majestic surroundings. Don't say we don't spoil you...

Spoonfed presents An Afternoon with John Maine is at the Royal Academy, Piccadilly W1J 0BD from 3.30pm until 5pm on Saturday 12th November. This event is free!

Places are extremely limited. Please email exhibitions@spoonfed.co.uk with the subject line 'Spoonfed presents John Maine' in order to reserve your spot.
