Jay Jopling to open a new gallery space south of the river.

So we're aware that we're pretty slow on this one, but nobody else seems to have really picked up on it either. Which is kind of weird as you'd think the news that Jay Jopling has announced the opening of a new White Cube gallery in London would have had the entire art world abuzz with excitement/envy/ennui etc. But, bizarrely, it hasn't.
Back in December it was announced that Jopling would be opening a third branch of the White Cube empire, in the former Recall warehouse on Bermondsey Street. As far as we can tell the whole project is still awaiting the green light from Southwark Council, but if given the go ahead the new space will consist of two subdivided galleries in the centre of the building, with storage for art works round the side. There will also be an auditorium, apparently, with about 60 or so seats and a kind of outdoor piazza space.
Old Etonian Jay Jopling opened the first White Cube on Duke Street, St James' in 1993, and it quickly became one of the driving forces behind the YBA boom, with the likes of Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Marc Quinn, Antony Gormley, Gavin Turk, and Jopling's then wife Sam Taylor-Wood all exhibiting there.
Today White Cube has galleries in Hoxton Square and Mason's Yard and, in the near future it seems, one in Bermondsey Street too.
