Now that's what we call the Big Society...

The coalition government may be placing a cap on charity tax relief, but at least somebody out there still believes in the power of philanthropy. From today, one loaded Londoner, going by the pseudonym of Wearelucky, is giving away £10,000 for lucky recipients to spend simply on “something good”.
After coming into a tonne of cash in 2010, Mr WeareLucky packed in the idea of blowing it all on going into space, and decided to give it away instead. So far, he's donated over £50,000 to unsuspecting folks as far apart as Cape Town, Cardiff, Cornwall and Colorado. Already, those to have benefitted include an orphanage in Bulgaria and a children's cancer charity.
Each lucky person is given £1,000 to spend, donate, or do something good. No strings attached, apparently. Unsurprisingly Londoners are immediately suspicious – this morning two of the capitals citizens have already rejected WeareLucky's advances. Thankfully, another was rewarded for picking up someone's litter. So get out there, London people, and do something helpful!
